    I just never understand what a word search has to do with presidents day or thanksgiving or christmas or learning history or learning about birds, bats, foxes or anything else for that matter.

    Why is that whenever an activity is suggested it is a word search? Talk about a cop out.

    Word Searches are great for children to learn new vocabulary words in a fun way. It is also good for their thinking skills to search for the words. They can be very challenging for kids. And a challenged brain is one that is growing! My kids enjoy them. So I offer them occasionally.

    Of course for this study we also used:

    * Coloring pages for Presidents Day
    * Abe Lincoln Maze
    * Challenging George Washington Maze
    * President's Day Crossword Puzzle
    * President's Day Challenging Crossword Puzzle
    * Don't forget to wear a 3-Cornered Hat on Washington's Birthday!
    * Legend of George Washington & The Cherry Tree
    * Cherry Tree Coloring Page
    * Legend of Why Lincoln Was Called "Honest Abe"
    * Lincoln Log Cabin Coloring Page

    And we listen to a song about Washington and Lincoln

    My kids LOVE things like the patriotic mini book to print.

    My Book About Abe Lincoln

    All About Presidents Minis Book

    My Book About George Washington

    And craft are always a BIG hit!

    Of course the basis for our whole study was reading good books about the Presidents.

    So if you happen to be anti-crosswords, feel free not to use them! The beauty of homeschooling is that you can pick and choose what works for YOU and YOUR KIDS!
