As homeschool parents I think we have an advantage when it comes to discovering our children’s talents. We are with our kids all the time! More than likely no one spends more time with them or knows them better than we do. We are the ones who teach them, we know what works and what doesn’t work. We probably even notice a little of ourselves, or spouse or a few other relatives when we look at them! Hopefully we see potential and possibility in them that others might miss! I know for me homeschooling has allowed me to know my children in a way I know no one else in the world.

With all this said here are some fun FREE tools to use with your children to help you discover their learning styles.  Understanding my children’s (and my own) learning styles has been very helpful to me over the years. This is great information for everything from choosing curriculum to setting up your daily schedule. I can’t tell you how much easier my life was when I accepted my oldest son could actually learn BETTER if he was upside down in his chair!

The Discovering Your Child’s Preferred Learning Style website will tell you what learning styles are, what the most common learning styles are, how to discover your child’s learning style and more!

About.com has a great online quiz titled What Are Your Child’s Special Gifts?  This will help you quickly recognize what your child’s gifts are so you can take the information and use it to encourage them in their learning.

Happy Homeschooling!
